The Solution to Global Warming

Published by chuckloder at 9:51 pm under permaculture Edit This

The solution to global warming is a lot simpler than most people realize.  I may have spoken about this previously in passing, but now I’d like to elaborate on it.  If you think for a minute about the magnitude of the waste of people and resources that all these wars represent, and then imagine for a moment if all that same energy is redirected toward creation rather than destruction, you can quickly see how simple the solution is.  To quote (or paraphrase) my man Bill Mollison again:  ”While the problems that we face become increasingly complicated, the solutions to them remain embarrassingly simple.”  Of course, destruction is easier than creation.  Think about how difficult it is to build a house and how easy it is to burn one down.  At the same time, being creative is so much more rewarding than being destructive.  I’ve often gotten into discussions or debates with people that I’ve met about these things and, while everybody agrees that war is undesirable, it’s been surprising how often those same people are resigned to it.  For many, even to imagine a world without war is nearly impossible.  I point out to such people that this attitude is itself a justification for war, that one who won’t even entertain the idea of a world without war, is actively campaigning for war.  Sometime while I was traveling I realized that the real battle for peace and love is going on on the level of consciousness.  Along with this realization came the liberation from the idea that I had to be some kind of crusader or activist.  It is enough to love and to accept that it’s possible.  Belief in God or country or family is not going to help.  Accept what is.  Love is.  No one ever asks anyone to believe in the Sun.  It’s just a fact, a reality.  In the last 3,000 years there have been 5,000 wars.  Enough is enough.  It’s time for the armies to plant trees.

I completely agree. “Enough is enough.” We have to start taking action. Do something. The apathy is destroying our only home.
